All 23 Oscar categories will be unveiled during the live announcement from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, with a global livestream available on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, and the Academy’s digital platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook).
Additionally, New York and Los Angeles Switch pool ports and satellite downlink feed will showcase the presentation, which will be nationally broadcast and available to stream on news programs, including ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “ABC News Live,” and Disney+. Fans can follow along on social media with hashtags #OscarNoms and #Oscars2024.
The 2024 Academy Awards will take place Sunday, March 10 and be broadcast live on ABC.
Thus far, “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie” are among the frontrunners for nominations, with IndieWire’s awards reporters Anne Thompson and Marcus Jones predicting both blockbusters be Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Director contenders, in addition to their respective acting category recognitions.
“Barbie” star Margot Robbie is expected to be nominated in the Best Actress category, joined by “Killers of the Flower Moon” actress Lily Gladstone, “Anatomy of a Fall” star Sandra Hüller (who may be landing a simultaneous Best Supporting Actress nod for “The Zone of Interest”), Carey Mulligan in “Maestro,” and “Poor Things” lead Emma Stone.
“Oppenheimer” actor Cillian Murphy is poised to take on the Best Actor category, along with “Maestro” multi-hyphenate Bradley Cooper, “The Holdovers” star Paul Giamatti, “Rustin” lead Colman Domingo, and perhaps Leonardo DiCaprio in “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
The recent PGA nominations had IndieWire’s Marcus Jones wonder if the Oscars’ Best Picture race would look similarly, with “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “American Fiction,” “Poor Things,” “Maestro,” “The Holdovers,” and “Past Lives” filling out the 10-picture category.
Only time will tell what the official 96th Oscar nominations will be. Until then, check out all of IndieWire’s awards predictions, and tune in to see the 2024 Oscar nominations announced below on Tuesday, January 23.
