Couple’s Ridiculously Lavish Wedding Threatens To Cost Groom His Job

These are the ridiculous wedding scenes that may cost a deputy mayor his job after he infuriated voters with the lavish ceremony.

Salim Mehajer, the deputy mayor of the town of Auburn, Australia, starred in Hollywood-style videos in the build up to the big day, that showed him shooting a gun at a victim as he would do “anything” to keep his love.

He also starred in an over-the-top six-minute film that showed him arriving to the event in a helicopter.

But furious Auburn residents were not as pleased for Mehajer and his new bride, Aysha, as their wedding bash saw an entire street closed in Lidcombe over the weekend.

Mehajer, a millionaire property developer, spent a fortune on stretch limousines, professional film crews and a motorcade of motorbikes and luxury cars that totalled £23m.

Residents on Frances Street were shocked when a letter through their doors told them to remove their cars from outside their houses or face a costly bill for having them towed.

Now Mehajer, whose wedding saw him release white doves while wearing a diamond-encrusted bow tie, may find himself out of a job as the council is considering an emergency motion to fire him.

Unbelievably, Mehajer did get permission to close part of the street from the council, but the full street closure was not authorised, according to Auburn councillor Irene Simms.

She said: “A lot of people are very unhappy about the letter that was boxed to local residents, which is the biggest concern.

“People are very unhappy for being held up by traffic.

“The people that live near the park are unhappy because they think they should have been told it would be landing.”

Locals had no idea that the letter they received were directly from Mehajer, instead thinking the demand for car removals was from the council.

Councillor Simms, who revealed that residents had started a petition calling for the deputy mayor’s sacking, added: “It just says ‘management’.

“There was a mobile number given [on the leaflet] and if you Google it the number is Queen Street Custom Car Hire.”

New South Wales police confirmed they had closed the road over safety concerns and said that a investigation had begun.

Despite the criticism, Mehajer insists he has done nothing wrong.

He told radio station KIIS: “They can investigate all they like, I’ve got nothing to hide.”

Mehajer’s groomsman, Ibrahim Azam, also defended the street closure, adding to News Corp: “The police were quite good – we had told everyone.
