A teaser trailer for the latest Downton Abbey movie and a set of first-look images have been released.

The second movie - named Downton Abbey: A New Era - is set to debut in cinemas next year. It was due to be ready in time for Christmas 2021 - but the release was pushed to 18 March 2022.

A short clip of the new trailer shows chauffeur Tom Branson (Allan Leech) remarrying Lucy Smith (Tuppence Middleton). Branson tragically lost his wife Lady Sybill during labour in Series 3.

It also shows Hugh Bonneville, who plays Robert Grantham, and Michelle Dockery, who returns as Lady Mary.

Another image shows Sophie McShera, who plays Daisy, and Lesley Nicol, who plays Mrs Patmore, chatting over a stove in the kitchen of the fictional Yorkshire country estate.

Meanwhile, Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton) and Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) are seen preparing for a tennis match.

A longer trailer will be screened for cinema-goers in Belfast this weekend.

Downton Abbey aired on ITV from 2010 to 2015 and followed the fortunes of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.

Show creator Julian Fellowes is returning to pen the script while Simon Curtis, whose credits include My Week With Marilyn, is on directing duties.

The first movie, in 2019, followed a royal visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff.

Downton Abbey: A New Era will be released in cinemas on March 18, 2022.
