Watch: Drivers have miraculous escape after avalanche of boulders smashes into lorries
Two lorry drivers miraculously escaped unhurt when an avalanche of giant boulders crushed their vehicles as they drove along a mountain road in Peru.
Dashcam footage showed the fast-moving rocks smashing into one of the freight lorries, sending it flying into the air and landing on its side.
More tumbling boulders collided with the second lorry, inflicting significant damage to the vehicle but fortuitously not to the drivers.
One of the men escaped by swiftly removing his seatbelt and leaving his cabin before more rocks rained down from the mountainside.
The stretch of highway in the San Mateo district of Huanchor was badly damaged, with dozens of stones in varying sizes littered across the road, along with the wreckage from the two trucks and their cargo.
The road, which connects the towns of Casapalca and Corcona, about 80 miles east of Lima, was closed for four hours as emergency services inspected the site and removed debris.
