Shirts were off and punters danced, chanted and leaped around as Ollie Watkins scored England's winning goal against the Netherlands.

Dozens of excited footy fans packed into The Sheraton Pub in Hardwick, Stockton, on Wednesday night for the semi-final game of Euro 2024. And in the final moments of the game, England substitute Watkins planted the ball into the back of the net, through the legs of an opposition player, after a perfect pass from Cole Palmer.

A video taken by photographer Terry Blackburn in the Teesside boozer shows the fans, some with hands to their faces, waiting and watching the big screen intently. Then as the big moment comes and Watkins scores, the Teessiders jump to their feet, some ripping off shirts, while others hug, chant and dance about.

The country now has to wait until Sunday to see whether Gareth Southgate's team can tackle Spain in the final of the competition. The last time England played Spain in a major tournament was in Euro 1996 when the England team, then led by ex Boro manager Terry Venables, won on a penalty shoot out progressing to a semi-final.

Kick off this time round is at 8pm.
