'Watch Your Feet!' Man Reels in Shark on Long Island Beach

A man was spotted reeling in a shark at a Long Island beach in Shirley, New York, footage recorded on August 21 shows.

Video recorded by Diana McCormick shows a fisherman reeling in the shark at Smith Point Beach.

“He struggled reeling it in for about 20 to 30 minutes,” McCormick told Storyful.

Several beach-goers can be seen in the video attempting to secure the catch, and getting frighteningly close to the shark’s teeth in the process, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

“The second after I stopped the video, the shark was helped by a wave and was able to slip through the guy’s hands and swam back into the ocean,” McCormick added.

A Smith Point Beach employee told local media that no restrictions were put in place following the incident. Credit: Diana McCormick via Storyful
