INCREDIBLE drone footage providing a bird's-eye view of the launch of Ferguson Marine's latest large vessel has been shared online.

The video, posted to YouTube by 'Greenock Drone Guy', shows the MV Glen Rosa sliding down the slipway at the Port Glasgow yard into the waters of the River Clyde for the first time on Tuesday before tugs safely steady the ship.

The ferry, which will be handed over to operators CalMac once complete late next year, was the heaviest ever ship to launch from Ferguson's at a weight of around 300 tonnes.

Hundreds of onlookers gathered in the area to watch the spectacle - with many fearing it may be the last large vessel launch on the lower Clyde.

MV Glen Rosa is the second of two ferries being built at the local yard, with sister vessel MV Glen Sannox currently undergoing sea trials before beginning service on the Ardrossan-Arran route.
