Watch moment mountain biker jumps over Tour de France peloton
No one can say the Tour de France isn't a skilful and daring challenge.
With past finishes as high as 2,645 metres above sea level and a distance covered of 2,200 miles, there is no doubting that those athletes that take on the 23-day endurance test are among the best in the world.
It is a shame, then, that every rider on the 98-mile stage between Annecy and Le Grand-Bornand were shown up by a plucky man on a mountain bike.
As the peloton made their way through the south east of France, a brave helmet-wearing fan jumped over the cyclists and let go of his handlebars.

Away from our Tour de France daredevil, the cyclists faced the first of three days in the Alps.
Yellow jersey Greg van Avertmaet was part of a big breakaway group ahead of the first climb of the day. However, the BMC rider is not considered a threat to the title
