Watch: Oklahoma woman's 'Last Airbender' collection earns world record
Feb. 6 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma woman earned a Guinness World Record for her collection of memorabilia related to the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise.
Jessica Carey, of Owasso, was named the record-holder after her collection of items related to the Nickelodeon animated series and sequel series The Legend of Korra was officially tallied at 2,026 items.
"Probably my favorite thing is [the] pilot script," Carey told KOTV. "It was something I actually found on eBay a few years after the show had finished airing. And I've never seen another one come back across."
Carey said she was drawn to the show, which is soon getting a live action series on Netflix, when it first started airing in 2005.
"I think I really identified with it because of the mix of cultures," Carey said. "It's really heavily Asian-inspired, and I love Asian culture, specifically Japanese.
"And in this show, there's also a Native American aspect to it. There's a Native American culture. And I, myself am Cherokee Nation. So there was this blending of my interest as well as what I identify with."
