“Welcome to the world Cassius. After 10 months of waiting, we’re so happy to finally meet you ❤️❤️❤️” she wrote in the caption. “I’ve been quite unsure if I would post photos of him on my Instagram so this may well be one of the only ones but after 10 months of sharing pregnancy photos it seemed only fair to post the result.”

Wardle replied to the post with an amusing comment, quipping: “Shit I thought we were going with Zeus! Might have slightly mixed this up at the registry office 😬”

The post also received several comments from colleagues and fans, with Waterloo Road co-star Rachel Leskovac writing: “Ah Katy - what a beautiful baby you’ve made - massive congratulations to you and your partner and welcome to the world Cassius 🫶💛🫶”

Griffiths, who has also appeared in Doctors and Casualty, returned as Chlo for the 2023 reboot of Waterloo Road, but fans were stunned after the character was killed off in a tragic car accident.

“It's been hard because there's been a lot of excitement for the show, but I think that was the overriding thing, the excitement for the show coming back, because it holds a special place in my heart,” she said of the choice.

“When I had the initial sit-down meeting with the producers and they told me what would happen, I think the bigger picture was just isn't it amazing that I get to go back into the character again and work with Adam again and be part of it. It is sad that I won't have that again, but I'm just very excited for the show and to see what comes of it.”

Waterloo Road airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
