We might already have proof that we are living in the Matrix, NASA scientist says

Could we actually be living inside a huge computer simulation - and nothing around us is real, including ourselves?

That’s the far-out idea espoused by a lot of Silicon Valley billionaires - including Elon Musk, who believes that the chance our world is actually real is only ‘one in billions’.

But is the proof that we’re living in The Matrix actually staring us in the face?

One NASA scientist believes it might be, according to an interview in The Guardian.

Rich Terrile says, ‘Soon there will be nothing technical standing in the way to making machines that have their own consciousness

Terrile says, ‘Quite frankly, if we are not living in a simulation, it is an extraordinarily unlikely circumstance.’

The clue that everything around us is simulated is that everything we look at breaks down into units - sort of like the pixels in a video game.

Terrile says, ‘Even things that we think of as continuous – time, energy, space, volume – all have a finite limit to their size. If that’s the case, then our universe is both computable and finite. Those properties allow the universe to be simulated.’

But who has made the simulation? Simple, Terrile says: ‘Our future selves’.
