Weather map shows exact date 30C heatwave set to hit Essex

After what feels like a poor excuse for summer so far, warm weather looks as though it is forecast to sweep the nation once again. A blast of hot air is set to warm up the unseasonably chilly temperatures experienced recently.

But before Essex can run to the beer gardens in some British sun, Essex is predicted to see more rain and cloud for the rest of the week. There is a high chance of precipitation until Monday, July 15, with the county seeing little sun and lots of cloud - despite the temperature being a relatively warm 16-20 degrees, according to the Met Office.

Once the rain has subsided, some might notice temperatures beginning to climb from Monday. By Tuesday, the rain is expected to lessen dramatically with temperatures hitting 22 degrees, and the sun making a bit more of an appearance. But in the next coming weeks the temperature is set to get even warmer almost hitting 30C.

The high-pressure system hitting the UK could continue well into the end of July. As the month draws on, temperatures could climb to as high as 28C in some parts.

SurreyLive has reported that, according to Netweather heat charts, it is next week when we might see some of the hottest temperatures we have seen for quite some time.

On Thursday (July 18), it is a sea of red across the South East with temperatures up to 28C. The hot temperatures continue that week - with at least 29C predicted for much of the South East. So if you're planning a mini-break in the South East - the end of next week is your best bet.
