Weather maps reveal 48-hour 'mini heatwaves' to strike Britain twice

The UK is set to be hit by 48-hour 'mini-heatwaves' twice in April. Weather maps from WX Charts suggest balmy weather will sweep parts of Britain later this month.

The first wave will see highs of 19C in London, Doncaster, Colchester and Ipswich. The south east of England will see the warmest weather during the weekend of April 13 and 14.

Highs of 18C are expected in many areas including Norwich, Cambridge, Nottingham, Hull, Bristol, Bolton, Inverness and Fraserburgh. It will be cooler near the Lake District and the Pennines, with temperatures of 9C predicted.

The south of Scotland, near Dumfries and Galashiels, is expected to see temperatures of 10C, Express reports. Highs of between 11C and 17C are predicted for other areas across England and Ireland.

This includes Plymouth, Bournemouth, Canterbury, Cardiff, Conwy, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Belfast and Derry. The second wave will see slightly cooler temperatures, with highs of 16C in the south east of the country - including Canterbury, London, Brighton.

Surrounding areas, including Reading, Norwich, Northampton, could see highs of 15C. In Wales, Cardiff and Conwy could see highs between 8C and 11C. Similar temperatures are predicted for Belfast and Derry.

There will also be highs of 11C in north of England, including Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle. Areas of Scotland, such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee will see temperatures between 5C to 8C.

According to the Met Office, the first wave could be coupled with 'heavy showers, mainly in the north, turning warmer on Saturday'. The second wave will see 'southern and eastern areas have some decent spells of drier weather with some good sunshine at times'.
