A two-day 'heatwave' is predicted to hit the UK later this month. Wet and windy weather has been sweeping across many parts of Britain in recent weeks.

But there could be a swing in conditions, with temperatures expected to soar very soon. Weather maps from Netweather indicate sunny weather will arrive in the country between June 28 and 30.

Areas around the Midlands, Manchester and London could see highs of 27C. Even the northern parts of the country could see some sunshine, with areas such as Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Wick predicted to see highs between 19C and 20C.

Jim Dale, a meteorologist with British Weather Services, said the country was moving towards better days, Express reports. He said: "The coming Monday seems to be the start of the warmer weather. We are looking at around 25-27C around the south in the coming days.

"We are in a short very warm spell. We are getting there in drips and drops and moving in the right direction. We need to be watchful though.

"In July I feel we will begin to start feeling warmer. We are coming out of the warm weather but there are chances of occasional breakdowns. It is a modest start and we are in a transition phase. We are already moving towards it and it continues till June 30."

According to the Met Office, the warmer weather is likely to arrive from the start of the next week. It said: "A gradual trend towards more settled, and warmer weather is then likely into next week, with a small chance that this could persist for several days leading to a spell of hot weather with winds from the south or southeast.

"There are a number of other possible scenarios at this range, with details likely to become clearer through this week as we get nearer the event." Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Dan Harris said: "In stark contrast to the first half of June, where temperatures have widely been below average, we are expecting to see a steady uptick through the second half of this week, rising to around or above average, and it will likely feel very warm for those in the sunshine.

"This initial spell of warm conditions isn’t expected to last too long however, as it turns more changeable through Friday and into the weekend with areas of cloud and rain spilling east across the UK."
