Large parts of Spain including holiday hotspots Barcelona and Majorca are set to be battered by storms and heavy rain this week. Yellow weather warnings have been issued by AEMET, the country’s meteorological agency.

Heavy rain is forecast for the south-west coast of Majorca, with a warning in place from 2pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 12. It comes after the island’s airport was forced to close on Tuesday due to flooding.

Flights were grounded at Palma Airport due to “extensive flood” causing “chaos” as rain poured in through the roof, Majorca Daily Bulletin reports. The airport later reopened, with passengers told to check with their airlines before travel.
