Wedding guests caught watching Old Firm during vows leave Lanarkshire couple in hysterics

A Lanarkshire couple tying the knot were left in stiches after Celtic fans were caught watching the Old Firm match during their wedding ceremony.

Melissa and Kevin Gallacher saw the funny side of things as several guests remained glued to their phones as they tied the knot at Seamill Hydro last Saturday.

Whilst filming the happy couple saying their vows, wedding photographer John Clark spotted Kevin's friends Anthony and Sean watching the Celtic v Rangers game on a mobile phone.

The brazen pair had cleverly placed the device between the seat in front of them to keep an eye on the score.

Speaking to the Record, Melissa, 30, from Chryston, said: "I was actually really worried about the game when I heard it was on at the same time as our wedding because I knew so many of our guests would want to watch it. I did suggest changing the time of our ceremony, but my mum told me absolutely no way.

"We were none the wiser the guys were watching it when we were getting married, but when we saw John's video it really made us laugh. They were obviously trying to be discreet, but they got caught."

Mum-of-one Melissa said the boys assured them their full attention was on the ceremony, but the finance worker said that's a lie she doesn't quite believe.

She added: "She said they were still watching the wedding but I don't think they were telling the truth."

Celtic fan Kevin, 35, said he had been keeping an eye on the match himself before walking down the aisle.

He added: "I was trying to catch a bit of it but I had to leave to get sorted so John the photographer put it on his phone for me. He was brilliant."

Melissa said the room emptied pretty quickly after the end of the ceremony, adding: "They were all desperate to get out to check the score on their phones."

In typical Glasgow fashion, there was banter between rival fans at the wedding, but Melissa said despite Rangers losing everyone was in good spirits.

She added: "We were all just laughing and joking about it. There was no dramas. Everyone had a great day. Thanks to John for capturing the memories for us. He was amazing."

Wedding photographer John, shared the video to his TikTok account and it quickly attracted a lot of attention.

He also told the Record: "There was a few watching the game but this was by far the best one and I knew the couple would find it funny since they are big Celtic fans so they were very happy with the score.

"You could hear the cheering when the bride was getting ready as the goals went in."
