Scousers have praised Taylor Swift for her "wonderful" act of kindness during her visit to the city as part of her Eras Tour.

The singer, who performed three nights at Anfield on her tour, has previously spoken about the impression Liverpool left on her. However, her impact on the city will be most felt by those in need.

The St Andrew's Community Network, which operates 11 foodbanks and eight community food pantries across north Liverpool, received a "generous donation" from the star.

While some may feel stars only help charities for positive publicity, it was not Taylor or her PR team who announced the gesture - but Rich Jones, the CEO of the community network. The Clubmoor-based organisation said the contribution will make a "huge difference" to the thousands of people they assist.

Charlotte, a fundraiser for the network, said: "We can't thank Taylor enough."

She added: "So many people are struggling at the moment and need for all our services has sadly increased over the last few years, so to have someone like Taylor supporting our endeavours and choosing to help people in crisis in Liverpool means so much and will make a massive difference."

Many have also taken to social media to express their gratitude to Taylor. Amanda Burns commented: "How lovely is she? All these stars should take leaf out of her book [and] donate to people struggling." Jujuqu McQue added: "Shame there aren't more like her".

Tony Pattinson said: "Good on her, well in girl", while Yvonne Owens remarked: "Well impressed. Great way to help in the heart of a needy community".

Janet Thomas described the act as a "lovely gesture" and Paul Burton commented: "Wonderful, hope she returns very soon. "

Shelley Statham simply said: "That's absolutely amazing".

The St Andrew's Community Network is instrumental in supporting around 36,000 individuals annually across their network of foodbanks and community food spaces, and they extend their assistance to many hundreds more through debt and welfare benefits advice, all in an effort to liberate people from the grips of poverty.

Taylor is currently gearing up for the remaining UK and Ireland dates on her Eras Tour, taking in three nights at Wembley from Friday before moving on to Dublin's Aviva Stadium next week.

Her shows at Anfield were among the biggest gigs the city has hosted in its history, and among those to benefit from Taylor's generosity during the tour dates was Savannah Wright, who during the second gig at Anfield received the 22 hat Taylor gives out to a young fan every night.

In a video that has been shared thousands of times on social media since, Taylor came up to Savannah, gave her a hug and handed her the hat.

Savannah's cousin Danielle told the ECHO: "I remember her telling our Sav that she had beautiful eyes.

"Her taking the time to speak to her was amazing. Sav will always remember that. She is a big artist but by actually speaking to her, she's created a lifetime memory."
