A Wellington veterinary referral centre has been recognised for its quality care for dogs with a prestigious award.

Cave Veterinary Specialists, part of the Linnaeus group, has received Dog Friendly Clinic accreditation from Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA).

The centre has gone above and beyond to ensure its patients are comfortable during their stay, with dog-friendly admission techniques and orthopaedic mattresses in each kennel.

Sophie Lee, a registered veterinary nurse at Cave, said: "We recognise that the emotional state of our patients is just as important as their physical state.

"By making efforts to help our patients feel secure in the clinic we are better able to deliver the highest quality care during their treatment with us."

Dr Rachel Casey from Dogs Trust said that vet clinics play an essential role in the wellbeing of dogs and the scheme helps them to maintain highest standards.

Chris Laurence, chair of BVBA, applauded Cave Veterinary Specialists for joining their dog-friendly community and for helping to ensure a positive experience for every dog within their clinic.

The award-winning clinic, located near Junction 26 on the M5, offers a wide range of specialist services.
