New pictures show the location where Jay Slater could have been spotted on CCTV.

Jay vanished while in Tenerife during a holiday with his friends. The 19 year-old apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, in Lancashire, was attending the NRG Music Festival on the Spanish island when he was reported missing last Monday, June 17.

According to his friend Lucy, he stayed out with people he had met at the festival on Sunday night while she went back to the resort they were staying in Los Cristianos. Jay stayed at a remote Airbnb in Masca, a village in the north west of the island which is nestled in vast mountainous terrain having gone there with two men.

At 8am on Monday, she received a phone call from him. Jay told her he didn’t know where he was, he was thirsty and that his phone battery was on 1 % of charge. Lucy told him to go back where he came from and get help. Jay’s phone died at 8.50am and he was reported missing at 9.04am.

Previously, the last known sighting was thought to be from the owner of the Airbnb who saw him walk away after asking what time the next bus left for the south of Tenerife. However, a blurry CCTV image has now been released which his family believe could be of Jay.

The image shows someone walking past a church in the village of Santiago del Teide at around 6pm on Monday - around ten hours after he was reportedly last heard from. The village is around 7km from Masca where he reportedly stayed in an Airbnb with two people he met at the NRG music festival. He is said to have walked off alone into a mountainous area in the Rural de Teno Park, close to Masca.

The Civil Guard has not yet confirmed this sighting is being investigated but family friend Rachel Hargreaves said the police are looking into 'every lead'.

James Holt, a reporter for the MEN who is in Tenerife now, was at the church square this morning. He has captured a picture of the CCTV camera facing the square which would have picked up the figure walking past.

The Civil Guard are yet to confirm if they are investigating the sighting but Jay's family say police have been informed.

A shop owner in Santiago del Teide has said he “didn’t see” Jay - but that the road down to the village from Masca is “very dangerous”. He added: “It’s steep and very long, about 7km.”

Search teams narrowed their efforts yesterday on small buildings close to where his phone last pinged. Officers from the Guardia Civil in the Canary Island could be seen circling two structures at the bottom of a ravine in Rural de Teno Park on Sunday.

A GoFundMe set up by Lucy for Jay’s disappearance has now raised over £32,000. Jay’s mum, Debbie Duncan, has issued an update on the fundraiser and thanked those who have donated.
