West Ham and Beckton General Election 2024 results

Labour has held the constituency of West Ham And Beckton in the 2024 General Election. The elected candidate James Asser won by a majority of 9,254 votes.

Mr. Asser secured 16,434 votes in the poll, ahead of the Newham Independents candidate Sophia Naqvi in second place, who received 7,180 votes.

Residents in West Ham And Beckton went to the polls on Thursday 4th July to choose the candidate who will serve as their MP in the next Parliament.

Counting of the General Election votes began after polls closed at 10pm on Thursday night, and the result in West Ham And Beckton was published by the Press Association at 04:02 am on Friday

A total of 78,790 people were eligible to vote in West Ham And Beckton, and of these 36,348 decided to complete a ballot paper, which meant the turnout in the constituency was 46.1 per cent.

The turnout figure in West Ham And Beckton was down compared to the last general election in 2019, when 57.3 per cent of the electorate used their vote.

  • James Asser (Labour) - 16,434 votes (45.2%).

  • Sophia Naqvi (Newham) - 7,180 votes (19.8%).

  • Rob Callender (Green party) - 3,897 votes (10.7%).

  • Holly Ramsey (Conservatives) - 3,781 votes (10.4%).

  • Georgie David (Reform) - 2,800 votes (7.7%).

  • Emily Bigland (Liberal Democrats) - 1,606 votes (4.4%).

  • Kayode Shedowo (CPA) - 460 votes (1.3%).

  • Lois Austin (TUSC) - 190 votes (0.5%).

Most UK constituencies have changed boundaries or names since the last General Election but analysis of previous results based on the 2024 boundaries for West Ham And Beckton shows that Labour won 12,151 fewer votes than in 2019.

At the 2019 General Election Labour won 70.7 per cent of the votes cast, and in the 2024 election the party's vote share decreased to 45.2 per cent.
