West Lothian emergency services race to incident as train passengers face disruption

Emergency services have raced to assist a person who has taken unwell on a train in West Lothian.

All lines to and from Linlithgow have been blocked as emergency services attend the scene.

ScotRail have warned Edinburgh train passengers to expect disruption to services.

A slew of services from Edinburgh to Dunblane, which call at Linlithgow have been cancelled with some services from Dunblane to Edinburgh, terminating at Stirling instead. ScotRail said that the disruption is expected to last until 3pm.

On their website it states: "Because of a passenger being taken ill on a train at Linlithgow some lines are blocked. Disruption is expected to last until around 3pm today.

"Services will be unable to go through the area. Delays, alterations and cancellations expected. We will work closely with emergency services to get you on the move as soon as possible."

Due to the incident, there are also cancellations to services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High. Ticket acceptance on buses is in place.

This comes as a number of ScotRail services from Edinburgh have been cancelled on Saturday due to 'a shortage of train crew'.

ScotRail posted on X: "There's delays to all services to Linlithgow due to the emergency services responding to an incident.

"Travelling to/from Glasgow? You can use our between Edinburgh & Glasgow Queenn St via Bathgate and Glasgow Ctl and Edinburgh routes. You can also use your train ticket on the 900 bus. For those going between Falkirk & Edinburgh, our tickets will be accepted on the X38 bus.."
