DJ Schak has hailed 'making history' as he and his mates threw a rave inside the deserted Wet n Wild water park in North Shields.

On Thursday morning, videos began to emerge online of police breaking up the party. The group of lads gathered at the top of one of the towers of the once hugely popular attraction, which shut its doors for the last time in 2019, with its sale to a local developer confirmed just last week.

Given that Wet n Wild is a place where they and many other people from Teesside and around the North East have such cherished memories, a staple for school trips, birthday parties and days out with friends for years, the lads decided to hold a gathering inside the place that was home to famous slide rides like the Kamakazi, Tornado and Black Hole.

On Thursday afternoon, it was confirmed that Northumbria Police had arrested three men on suspicion of causing a public nuisance, but hours later a fresh update was released to announce they'd been released with 'no further action being taken'.

And it wasn't long before Schak took to Instagram to share snaps and clips from an unforgettable night with his mates. Posting a collection of images and videos on his Instagram, showing the crew partying next to one of the slides while he spun tracks including his hit 'Jumpin' All Around', Schak captioned: "Wet n Wild oi oi. Last neet we made history! So buzzing we managed to get in before this gets demolished, I've wanted to film content in here for ages as it's such an iconic part of North Shields."

The post quickly garnered a massive response, with one follower querying: "Did you go on the kamikaze? " while another chimed in with: "Hahaha class many mint memories there."

Adding to the flurry of comments was a note from renowned North East dance figure Mc Tazo, who commented: "Class good old wet and wild".

Schak's Instagram update revealed that some of his friends fully embraced the spirit by dressing up for the event, with one sporting a 70s inspired crushed velvet outfit and another channeling the 118 man.

On the incident, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police stated: "Shortly after 9pm yesterday [Wednesday], we responded to a report of a disturbance at a disused premises on Rotary Way in North Shields. Officers attended and a small number of people had gathered to listen to music."

"Three men - aged 23, 32 and 33 - were interviewed in connection with the disturbance but have since been released with no further action to be taken."

Schak is well-known for his unconventional rave locations. After hosting a rave on a Metro train in 2022, he was seen spinning the decks at Greggs on Northumberland Street earlier this year during their Sausage Rolls and Stompers event.

He has also performed pitch-side at St James' Park for both Newcastle and England matches, most recently providing entertainment last month for the Three Lions' pre-Euro 2024 friendly against Bosnia.
