All eyes were on Olly Alexander as he took to the stage at Malmo Arena in Sweden to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest. And it while it wasn't meant to be for us this year, with a brutal zero points in the public vote, we did fair slightly better than last year.

The 33-year-old, whose birth name is Oliver Alexander Thornton, was the 12th act to perform for the international voting public on Saturday night (May 11), which may be considered unlucky for some.

Following Loreen’s victory in Liverpool in 2023 with the song Tattoo, the 68th edition of the Contest took place in Sweden. It is the seventh time Sweden has hosted the world's biggest music event and this year it was hosted by a Hollywood star and an iconic Eurovision veteran; Malin Åkerman and Petra Mede.

Years and Years star Olly took to the stage for a slightly racy performance of his track, Dizzy, the first song he has co-written. His performance featured upside-down locker room staging and cameras rotating to give a spinning feel to Olly and the dancers at Malmo Arena.

After Mae Muller's efforts in 2023 saw her finish in last place, this year, Olly finished in 18th place with a total 46 points. He received a total of zero points in the public vote with the rest coming from the jury decisions.

The UK jury has awarded its "douze points", 12 points, to Portugal with Dame Joanne Lumley gripping a glass of champagne while reading the result with a backdrop of the Tower of London.
