Where Can I Watch “Dune”? How to Stream the Original Movie, New Franchise and Upcoming Series

From the original “Dune” to the latest franchise starring Timothée Chalamet, here’s where to stream every film and TV adaptation of the bestselling sci-fi novel

Dune: Part Two has been one of the biggest movies of 2024 so far, leaving fans craving more.

Now, people can enjoy all the Dune installations as the original 1984 film arrived on Netflix on June 1. The latest films, directed by Dennis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet in the lead role, are also now available to stream.

The movies all follow the plot of the original 1965 book, Dune, by Frank Herbert. The epic science fiction tale tells the story of Paul Atreides, the heir to a noble family, and his journey to lead an inhabitable planet, Arrakis. He’s faced with backstabbing family, distrustful subjects and troubling visions of a destructive future.

Along the way, he’s guided by Chani (Zendaya), but his choices may cost him not only his relationship but everything.

Where can I watch 1984’s Dune?

Twin Peaks director David Lynch took a stab at Dune with his 1984 movie. Starring Kyle MacLachlan as Paul and Sting as his mortal enemy, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the movie proved to be a daunting task to execute, given the limits of technology at the time.

Though it was highly criticized at the time of its release, 1984’s Dune had a star-studded cast, including Patrick Stewart as Paul’s faithful trainer, Gurney Halleck.

1984’s Dune is now available on Netflix. It is also available to stream on Max.

Where can I stream Dune: Part One?

Nearly 40 years after the original came out, Villeneuve revived the franchise with a new installment starring Chalamet in the lead role. 2021’s Dune: Part One saw Paul witness the murder of his father, Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), and the fall of the House Atreides, leaving him and his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), to fend for themselves in a foreign world.

The movie was met with rave reviews, inspiring the creation of Dune: Part Two, which followed the second half of the Dune book.

Dune: Part One is now streaming on Hulu and Max.

Is Dune: Part Two on streaming?

Three years after the first half was released, Villeneuve released Part Two. This time, Chalamet was joined by an even more star-studded cast, including Austin Butler in Sting’s original role and Florence Pugh as the daughter of the emperor.

The film picks up where the first left off, with Paul trying to find his place among the Fremen, the Indigenous people of Arrakis. Throughout the film, he is also trying to avoid his own destiny of becoming the Lisan al Gaib, or the chosen one. However, the task may prove too difficult.

Dune: Part Two is only available on Max.

Where will Dune: Prophecy stream?

Following the success of the films, a new original show, Dune: Prophecy, will debut in the fall of 2024. The series will serve as a prequel to the movies, focusing on the powers of the Bene Gesserit, the witch-like sister coven, 10,000 years before Paul’s story.

Dune: Prophecy tells the story of two Harkonnen sisters who end up establishing the Bene Gesserit.

The show is a Max original and will stream on the platform.
