Where to watch Wimbledon and the Olympics on big screens and grab a drink in London this summer

This year is a summer of sport for the UK. England are still in contention for the Euros, just, and Wimbledon is underway in South West London. After these are done and dusted, there is even more action to look forward to. In France, the Olympics will begin, followed by the Paralympics.

The opening ceremony in Paris will take place on July 26. The games will officially end on August 11.

Londoners and tourists alike will be able to watch Team GB athletes compete against professionals from across the globe on big screens. Here is a selection of places showing Wimbledon or the Olympics on the big screen.

Borough Yards

Wimbledon and Olympics from July 1 to August 11

Borough Yards is screening the summer of sport starting with Wimbledon this month and ending with the Olympics in August. The ‘Soap Yard’ is transformed with outdoor screens, seating and pop-ups by the various restaurants, bars and shops.

Its website states: "We’re creating a vibrant new London destination to shop, eat, work and play, right next door to the famous culinary crucible, Borough Market. Based in and around a series of restored and reconceived railway arches, Borough Yards is a new chapter for Southwark and the wider Borough Market area."

It adds: "Borough Yards is an unrivalled location. On the Thames’ south bank, along with Borough Market our immediate neighbour, we’re a two-minute walk from London Bridge station and just 10 minutes from London’s financial district, Shakespeare’s Globe, Tate Modern, and much more."

Sugar House Island

Euros, Wimbledon and Olympics from June 14 to August 11

Jim and Tonic East, Stratford’s urban distillery based at Sugar House Island, is hosting a summer of sport on a big screen at its welcoming outdoor terrace. Customers won't miss a moment of the sporting action this summer with the 2024 Euros, Wimbledon and Olympics all being played live in the heart of the East London island.

Its website states: "Set on the banks of the river, Jim and Tonic’s multi-venue food and drink destination is a short walk from Pudding Mill Lane Station. With a modern-fusion restaurant and bar (The Print House), three-story events space (The Rum House), outdoor terrace and on-site Distillery, it’s the perfect spot for budding food and drink lovers."

Devonshire Square

Wimbledon and Olympics from July 1 to August 12

Devonshire Square is hosting a large screen showing events in its courtyard. It is newly landscaped, and will broadcast highlights from Wimbledon and the Olympics.

Also, Devonshire Terrace will be running a pop-up bar, serving a selection of drinks, snacks and lunch hampers throughout the six-week period. There will also be a pop-up urban offering by Square Mile Farms between June 25 – July 24, which will be hosted in a DSQube Pop Up Art Studio promoting a healthier and sustainable lifestyle to visitors.

This will include public workshops, food sampling of delicious recipes from herbs grown in the farm, activities to embrace the British summer – more information to come soon.]
