White House Condemns Rally Outside Israeli-Owned Restaurant in Philadelphia

The White House condemned the actions of protesters who rallied outside a falafel shop in Philadelphia as “antisemitic,” according to local news reports.

This footage, filmed on Sunday, December 3, shows pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside Goldie, one of multiple restaurants owned by the Israel-born chef Michael Solomonov.

In this video demonstrators can be heard chanting, “Goldie, Goldie, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.”

The Philadelphia Inquirer said hundreds of people demonstrated on Sunday. Separate video showed premises, including a Starbucks and a TD Bank, were graffitied.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said in a statement, “this behavior reveals the kind of cruel and senseless double standard that is a calling card of antisemitism,” according to reports.

Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro also denounced the event, saying in a statement on X “a restaurant was targeted and mobbed because its owner is Jewish and Israeli. This hate and bigotry is reminiscent of a dark time in history.” Credit: Karen Closkey via Storyful
