White House holds press briefing: Watch live

NOTE: The briefing is now scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will deliver a daily press briefing Wednesday as pressure on Congress to pass a spending package collides with defense and security priorities for both parties.

House and Senate leaders are meeting Wednesday afternoon with President Biden to discuss the White House’s request for billions of dollars for Ukraine, Israel and other national security issues. The meeting comes as lawmakers face a stalemate on a border security deal that is key to unlocking the Ukraine aid.

Meanwhile, a vocal group of progressives sent a stern warning to Biden this week, arguing further aid to Israel in its war against Hamas should be predicated on better protections for the lives and rights of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
