Whoopi Goldberg accidentally introduces Nick Offerman with profane slip-up on “The View”: 'I answer to either'
Goldberg later stood up at the Hot Topics table to re-introduce Offerman by his correct name.
Whoopi Goldberg put some smooth moves on Nick Offerman's name, as the Oscar-winning actress hilariously flubbed the star's title as she introduced him on Thursday's episode of The View.
"Please welcome Dick... oop... Nick Offerman," the 68-year-old said as she welcomed Offerman to the Hot Topics table. The slip-up was not mentioned again... at least for the next 10 minutes.
"Hey, sorry, we're back with Nick Offerman!" Goldberg said when the show returned from a subsequent commercial break, standing from her seat to allow the entire audience to applaud both Offerman and her proper (non-Dick) pronunciation of the name.
Seizing a comedic opportunity to prompt yet another cohost to say "Dick," Goldberg cut in to panelist Sara Haines' question to Offerman, which saw the latter use the Civil War actor's proper first name until Goldberg had something to say about it.
"Did you say Nick?" Goldberg asked Haines, who quipped back: "I didn't say Dick."
Offerman then sprung into action, telling them: "I answer to either."

You might think, after that, Goldberg might go soft on referencing the mixup. Think again!
"Thanks for watching, thanks for listening," Goldberg said in the final 10 seconds of the show. "I know his name is Nick. Relax!"
The moment recalled a February 2023 incident in which Joy Behar accidentally referred to the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection as the "Jan. 6 erection" during a live broadcast, as well as that time Behar accused Sunny Hostin of wearing a dress with a penis on it.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
