EXCLUSIVE: BLKFAM, the free, ad-supported streaming service created by digital marketing vet Larry Adams, has set its first original series with Whoopi Goldberg, an equity partner in the platform.

It’s an animated preschool series called Poof!, created by Goldberg with animation by Playwatch, described as “an irreverent kid’s show about a fart (Poof) with big dreams!” Goldberg serves as the show’s producer and voices Poof’s Grandma.

The series will premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival on June 8. The first season consists of six, 21-minute episodes.

As we previously reported, Goldberg signed on as equity partner alongside Tom Leonardis, president of her entertainment venture Whoop, Inc., and will be steering the creative development of various programming exclusive to the platform.

“We are extremely honored to be apart of the Tribeca Film Festival, said Jimmy Jenkins, CEO Playwatch Studios. “Working with Whoopi to bring this idea to life has been nothing short of a true joy. Her brilliance is displayed throughout all of her many ideas. We feel this is a start to a monumental partnership that will truly inspire children all over the globe.”

Added Goldberg, “Poof affects us all and it’s all about when you have little dreams, a family and a lot of gas.”

BLKFAM bill itself as “the first and only Black-owned, Black-focused family streaming platform” with a content library of 20+ syndicated series, 1,000+ hours of new animation titles – including dozens of new animated characters of color and diverse gender experiences — and hundreds of hours of original music driven content.
