The Sidemen Story just dropped on Netflix, where we get up close and personal Europe’s biggest YouTubers. But, why did KSI leave the group?

The documentary, which was released on 14th February, follows members KSI, Miniminter, Zerkaa, TBJZL, Behzinga, Vikkstar123 and W2S and their rise to fame and stardom.

Fans of the group will know that back in 2017, KSI revealed he was leaving which led to an online frenzy and multiple diss tracks from other members that racked up millions of views. So, why did KSI leave the Sidemen? Here’s what we know.

Why did KSI leave the Sidemen?

In 2017, KSI – whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, but goes by JJ – posted a video where he revealed he was leaving the group, which left the other Sidemen completely blindsided.

Then, he posted a diss track about the Sidemen to which the other members reacted with their own songs which was soon dubbed "diss track season", "Sidemen beef" or the "2017 Sidemen War".

In the documentary, the group opened up about that time with KSI revealing that he left because he wanted to pursue music. “I wanted to become a musician and really focus on music,” he said.

In the original video, he also claimed he was leaving because of his fellow member, Ethan Payne AKA Behzinga. “It makes sense why he singled me out because I’m an easy target… I dish it out to everyone,” Ethan said in the documentary.

But, Ethan said in a vlog at the time that the diss tracks were just banter, with KSI also sharing that the drama was just a joke. "Ultimately, I'm still in the Sidemen because they're my boys," KSI said in the documentary.

So, that's that then!

The Sidemen Story is streaming on Netflix now.
