Gemma Collins is in the hot seat over her decision to leave this past weekend's Dancing on Ice live show early, but all might not be quite as it seems.

It all started when the show's presenting duo Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had a bit of a rant about the GC on This Morning on Monday (January 14) during a chat with backstage correspondent Kem Cetinay about Gemma going missing during the last quarter of the show.

Although Kem reported that the GC that disappeared when she got "a bit bored", Digital Spy has learned from a source close to Gemma that she actually thought she'd wrapped production early because she wasn't involved in the Skate-Off.

That Skate-Off between Neighbours actor Mark Little and Ryan Sidebottom (as well as their professional partners) ultimately ended up with Little being the first eliminated from Dancing on Ice.

Kem also told Phil and Holly on This Morning that Gemma had held up a dress rehearsal by napping, but our insider has clarified that she was actually backstage watching the recording session at the time. Let's put those rumours to bed!

Much has also been made about supposed tension between Gemma and other members of the cast, but her behind-the-scenes conduct has been defended by Brian McFadden on social media, with a source also pointing to her own frequent interactions with the cast on Instagram as well.

In any event, Gemma has been hard at work on her return to the ice this weekend. On Instagram last week, she revealed with professional partner Matt Evers that they were working on a routine that would "break the internet".

Judge for yourselves when Dancing on Ice continues this Sunday night (January 20) at 6pm on ITV.
