ITV and BBC soaps including Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders have faced a lot of schedule disruption over the last few weeks due to Euro 2024.

But this week, another popular ITV programme will be removed from its usual slot for an important reason.

If you have tuned into your usual Friday morning TV today (July 5), you might have noticed This Morning isn’t on and you may be wondering why.

Lorraine and Loose Women have also been taken off air and Good Morning Britain (GMB) has been extended by 25 minutes.

Why isn't This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women on ITV today?

After the later running GMB today, This Morning has been replaced by Election 2024 Live: The Results which begins at 9.25am.

Election 2024 Live: The Results is set to continue until 3.30pm on Friday afternoon, meaning Lorraine and Loose Women will also not be on TV.

The summary for Election 2024 Live: The Results on Radio Times reads: “Julie Etchingham presents coverage of the key developments and reaction to the results of the snap General Election, with expert analysis from correspondents in Westminster and across the country.

“On what is sure to be a dramatic day for the UK, ITV's political team hears from a range of leading politicians, opinion-formers and voters themselves to examine how the nation has determined the next occupant of Number 10 Downing Street.”

Election 2024 Live: The Results is set to end at 3.30pm on Friday afternoon.

Speaking about GMB’s extended programme with hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, an ITV spokesperson told The Sun: "The studio will host the best, brightest, most outspoken and listened to political policy makers and commentators in the country.

"This includes leading political punditry pairing Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire, former PM Boris Johnson's communications chief Guto Harri, Labour veteran Harriet Harman, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng and newly enobled Labour peer Ayesha Hazarika.

"They will all join as guests as the show continues to cover up-to-the-minute election news and insights through to 9.25am.”

This Morning, Good Morning Britain and Loose Women will continue on ITV next week, from Monday, July 8.
