Daisy Jones & The Six spoilers follow.

Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll are plentiful in Prime Video's adaptation of Daisy Jones & the Six. The 10-part series is loosely inspired by iconic '70s rock band Fleetwood Mac — and, more specifically, the stormy dynamic between the band's lead singers, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Daisy Jones & the Six follows the titular group on their meteoric rise to superstardom... and disbandment after a single tour and a sold-out show in 1977.

Two decades later, the former members and their inner circle agree to reveal the truth behind their unexpected split. From there, we're taken back in time to the band's origins.

For the most part, the series is a faithful adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's original novel. But there is one question fervent fans are probably asking after watching the first three episodes: Where in the world is Pete Loving?

In the book, Pete (who plays bass) and Chuck (who plays rhythm guitar) were both original members of the band before they became known as the Six and joined forces with Daisy. But when Chuck dies at war, Pete's brother Eddie takes on the job.

In the series, however, Chuck doesn't die but goes off to college to pursue dentistry. (Preferred option.) Meanwhile, Pete is cut out of the series entirely, and Eddie, whose last name has been changed to Roundtree, is now the band's bass guitarist.

Pete's absence also means there are only five members in the band — until Daisy joins, at least. But to get around this, the show has Karen come up with their new name and suggest that the sixth member is Camila, Billy's girlfriend and eventual wife.

To be fair, Pete doesn't play a huge part in the book, which is exactly why the showrunners decided to leave him out of the TV series.

"When you adapt things for television, changes inevitably happen," Scott Neustadter explained in a recent interview with TIME.

"But this one didn't stress us out too much. The Pete character serves a function in the novel, but he doesn't have much to say. He's not the most dramatic. We knew if we were going to cast Pete, the actor might want more to do."

Although Eddie joins the band later on in the book, he does play a much bigger role due to his ongoing bitterness towards Billy, which makes even more sense in the series given his unrequited love for Camila.

Neustadter also explained how "eliminating Pete" allowed them to flesh out the other characters more, adding: "I hope everyone, especially the Pete stans, forgive us after they watch the show."

He continued: "It was really important with stepping into the incredible world that Taylor created to bring life to the stories of the supporting characters and make sure that they all had full stories.

"We got to fully enjoy the romance of Karen and Graham, we got to go on Simone's journey with her. And because of that, we just needed to make sure that we had the right amount of stories to fit in the show.

"So RIP Pete, but I do think there's a little bit of him embodied in some of our other characters."

RIP Pete, indeed.

The first three episodes of Daisy Jones & the Six are available to watch on Prime Video.
