Why your persistent headaches may actually be issue in your mouth

If you're suffering from persistent headaches, it can be really concerning.

You may be wondering what's causing them, Googling your symptoms, and feeling worse than you did before you took to the internet for answers. However, a health expert shared the reason you're getting persistent headaches or migraines could actually be to do with a tooth issue.

@just_smilewi took to TikTok with a video to explain, captioning his video: "Did you know that frequent headaches might be related to something wrong with your teeth? Referred pain can cause headaches from problems in our teeth. Sometimes small changes can make a big difference."

"The headache can be caused by both teeth on the top and the bottom, and this is through referred pain", he explained.

He continued: "When the tooth is actually treated, the headaches tend to go away. Some of the more common ones are lower wisdom teeth causing tension headaches, and upper molars causing sinus pain, and dentistry actually has a speciality called oral medicine, and they focus on treating the effects of oral health problems on the rest of the body."

The expert then shared that when he was in dental school, he had a patient who came in complaining of "severe headaches and neck pain", and after running tests, it was "one of her molars on the top" causing the problems.

He said he was "surprised" to see how much pain the woman was in because she'd had a crown put on a month ago, and it was "too high", so she was biting down and it was causing her issues.

To solve it, he just made a "small adjustment on the tooth", and "all of the symptoms went away".

In the comments, someone wrote: "I can say this is true after my wisdom teeth got removed my constant headaches went away."

Another penned: "This is the exact video I was looking for weeks ago. I was wondering why I had consistent migraines for 2 weeks straight so I got my wisdom teeth out last week, hoping the headaches are gone."

"I knew I wasn't crazy when I would get really bad headaches before a toothache", a TikToker added.
