Why is TikTok obsessed with this behind-the-scenes clip from ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’?

The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of the summer’s most popular shows. Streaming exclusively on Prime Video, the show is an adaptation of the books of the same name by author Jenny Han, who also writes and produces the show.

The series follows teenager Isabella “Belly” Conklin, played by Lola Tung, and her brother, who spend their summers at their mother’s best friend’s beach house.

Naturally, the friend also has two teenage sons: Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, and Conrad, played by Christopher Briney — both of whom happen to be in love with Belly. The show follows the development of that complicated love triangle.

The show’s second season debuted on July 14, with new episodes dropping every Friday. It’s currently the No. 2 show on Amazon’s Prime Video, and both teens and adults have become swept into the summer teen romance drama.

“Dear Jenny, you need to let the season come out fully because no, I’m not going to have it all summer long when school starts in one week. It’s not going to be fun when school starts august first, and there’s no summer vibe. Please release the whole season!!!!” begged one commenter on the official @thesummeriturnedpretty TikTok account.

“Y’all left me in a cliff hanger I’m so ready for Thursday/Friday ima watch it 10 times,” wrote another.

Fans are loving behind-the-scenes content

Fans of the show are loving the new season and episodes, but they also appear eager to get to know the cast behind the scenes.

For instance, a clip of the stars — along with Belly’s best friend Taylor, played by Rain Spencer, and Belly’s brother Stephen, played by Sean Kaufman — goofing around in real life has gone completely viral.

The video shows the cast performing “trust falls” at what looks to be an amusement park or carnival scene for the show, and fans loved the behind-the-scenes peek.

The @thesummeriturnedpretty captioned the TikTok “the way this cast trusts each other,” and it’s that sentiment of trust that has fans swooning, because they are sure the cast really is that close in real life — and it only seems to add to their love of the show.

In fact, some fans even speculated that the complicated and mushy feelings the actors portray in the show just might be spilling over into the real world.

“I’m convinced that Taylor and Steven are the exact same off screen,” commented @mebekristyna.

“I was wondering if they’re crushing in real life! They have good chemistry,” agreed @hayleylappin.

“sean and rain are literally the real life taylor and steven,” added @k.bauer2.

“Rain and Sean’s chemistry is so cute I can’t,” gushed @jjiara.obx.

‘This is the best cast in the world’

Despite the speculation, People reports that most of the cast are not public about their personal lives, except for Briney, who has been dating his girlfriend Isabel Machado since 2021.

But regardless if the cast is dating or even interested in each other, fans still love to see them getting along.

“I LOVE THIS CAST SM,” wrote an enthused @ethan_had_econ.

“The way they get along with each other is everything one would think they’ve been close friends for years it’s so sweet to see,” noted @itssabzz.

“this is the best cast in the world, they all make the series magical,” summed up @sunsets_views1.
