The wife of British TV doctor Michael Mosley, whose body was found after a headline-making search this month, is speaking out about his death.

In her first Instagram post since his death, Clare Bailey Mosley — an author and Daily Mail columnist, like Michael — shared a heartfelt message dedicated to her late husband on Saturday, June 22.

“Thank you all for your wonderfully supportive messages,” she wrote alongside a photo of him. “The outpouring of love from so many people has meant a huge amount to me and my family.”

"I'm going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you will understand,” she said.

Clare noted she “will be back here soon” to pick up where her husband left off.

“I very much want to continue with the work that gave Michael and myself so much joy and such a sense of purpose,” she continued. “Once more thank you so much for respecting my family's privacy so kindly. Michael was an amazing man. Thank you for seeing that too.”

“We miss him so much,” she concluded.

After Michael's body was found on June 9 — he disappeared while vacationing in Greece on June 5 — Clare reacted to his death in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

"I don't know quite where to begin with this,” the author said. “It's devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together."

Clare also said she was "incredibly proud" of the couple's children for "their resilience and support over the past days," adding: "My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world. It's clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you."

According to multiple outlets — including the BBC, Associated Press and The Guardian — Michael's body was found on a beach in Agia Marina. Lefteris Papakalodoukas, the mayor of Symi — the island where Michael went missing — said that the body was lying face-up against a fence after appearing to have fallen down a steep slope.

Clare said that she and her loved ones are currently "taking comfort” in the fact that Michael — whom she described as a “special” and “adventurous” man — “so very nearly made it."

In her statement, she said, "He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.”

She also thanked those who helped search for the TV doctor.

"We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him,” she said. “Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked."

"We’re also very grateful to the press who have dealt with us with great respect," Clare continued. "I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends."

"Most of all," she concluded, "I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all."
