Will Mellor has said he felt "horrendous" and struggled to walk after having his coronavirus vaccine.

The 45-year-old actor — who recently joined the cast of Coronation Street as villainous drugs baron Harvey — shared a video from his bed after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca Oxford jab.

Mellor told his 257k followers on Instagram: "I had the COVID jab yesterday and I feel absolutely horrendous.

"I can barely lift my head off the pillow and my arms are like lead. I have aching bones, all my back is aching, it's like I've literally got the full blown flu.

"When I try to walk it's like I'm an 80-year-old man, I'm not joking, it's horrendous.

"Obviously not everyone is going to get it like this, but just to let you know there's a possibility.

"So if you're going to have the jab don't plan nothing for the day after just in case."

His friend and podcast co-host Ralf Little commented: "I was the same mate. Wiped out for 24 hours. Then it was gone, like nothing had happened."

The coronavirus vaccine is now being offered to adults aged 42 and over.

Mellor joined the cast of Corrie in March and said the role had made his mum's dream come true.

Speaking on White Wine Question Time, the actor said his new role has finally made his mum proud.

“I'm dead chuffed for my mum because she's waited 32 years for me to be in Coronation Street,” he laughed.

“She just said when I was 12 and I started acting, 'I just want him to be in Corrie, that's all I want. I'll be over the moon.' So finally, I'm walking down the cobbles!”

He went on to star alongside Sheridan Smith and Ralf Little in BBC sitcom Two Pints Of Lager Ant A Packet Of Crisps, which ran from 2001 to 2011. He and Little co-host a podcast called Two Pints with Will & Ralf.

He played police officer DC Spike Tanner in Channel 4’s No Offence and a psychic in the first series of ITV’s Broadchurch.

Mellor — who has two teenage children with his dancer wife Michelle McSween — also starred in BBC Three sitcom White Van Man.
