Wilton and Salisbury crews called after horse box set on fire in field

Fire crews from Wilton and Salisbury were called following reports of a horse box on fire in a field.

At around 6.30pm on Wednesday, July 3 Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service received reports of a horse box on fire near Dinton. The horse box was located in a field lined with hedgerows.

On arrival the crew found the horse box on fire, using two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel jet, rake and TIC to extinguish the fire.

The fire service confirmed that no animals were harmed in the incident, with the horse box confirmed as empty on arrival.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our crews from Wilton and Salisbury Fire Station attended calls to a horse box which had caught alight.

"Upon crews arrival, the horse box was well alight and crews got to work quickly extinguishing the fire using 1x hose reel jet and 2x breathing apparatus. Luckily no horses were harmed."
