Winds Pick Up as Hurricane Humberto Hits Bermuda

Hurricane Humberto brought high winds and stormy conditions to Bermuda as the edges of the Category 3 storm arrived at the island on September 18, causing power cuts and damage to some buildings.

The National Hurricane Center warned of potential flooding in Bermuda from “storm surge and dangerous breaking waves,” and said “a prolonged period of dangerous winds” was anticipated through Thursday, September 19.

Winds from the storm snapped a palm tree at a marina in Bermuda’s Hamilton Harbor as the storm arrived in the area on Wednesday.
