Witney Carson Hopes to 'Soak Up Big Little Moments' with Her Kids as She Steps Away from 'DWTS' (Exclusive)
The professional dancer opens up to PEOPLE about life with her two little ones and her recent decision to not return for season 32 of 'Dancing with the Stars'
Witney Carson is ready to take a break from the ballroom to soak up time with her little ones.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her partnership with Gerber Childrenswear for their Big Little Moments campaign, the professional dancer, 29, opened up about life with her two boys and her decision to step away from Dancing with the Stars for its upcoming 32nd season to spend more time with sons Kevin Leo, 2, and Jet, whom she welcomed in May.
"It was a really difficult decision. Dancing is my passion, it's what I love to do. I've been on the show for 11 years now, so deciding not to was a very big decision," Carson tells PEOPLE of her choice not to return to the ABC reality series, which she confirmed on TikTok last month.
"My boys are really little, and Leo just started preschool, and Jet's obviously very small. I'm only three months postpartum, so physically, I didn't feel quite ready. I always want to be my 110% on anything that I do, and I didn't feel quite like I could give that to what the show demands," she continues. "So we decided not to, and we're deciding just to be home with each other and enjoy each other's company and be a full-time mom, to soak up all of those big little moments and everything that comes with motherhood."

Carson says she's looking forward to the "simple things" with her sons during her increased downtime.
"Being a mom is a full-time job. It's waking up, making breakfast, making lunch for your kids, going off to school, picking them up from school. Being there for Leo is really important to us, just experiencing everything that he is experiencing no matter what it is, even if he got an owie and he fell, I want to be there for that. And Jet, obviously when he's crying, I want to be the one that picks him up and soothes him and rocks him back to sleep."
"My kids will only be this little once, so I have to take advantage of it," adds the mom of two, who shares her kids with husband Carson McAllister.
As Carson relishes this time with her little ones, she tells PEOPLE that partnering with Gerber Childrenswear for their Big Little Moments campaign and expansion of their modern moments™ collection, exclusively at Walmart, has been a "really organic fit."
"I just love the message that Gerber is portraying with the Big Little Moments campaign. I think it fits organically so well with where I'm at in life. I have a toddler and then I just had a baby three months ago, and we just moved across the country, so we are just go, go, go, and we need a fast, good, affordable, one-stop shop for everything."
"One of my favorite Big Little Moments with my boys is watching Leo be the best big brother to Jet. It’s the little things — Leo loves feeding Jet a bottle and always likes to make him happy," she continues. "When I have to go run across the room to grab something, I’ll say to Leo, ‘make Jet happy’ and he will give Jet little faces to make him laugh and smile."
"These are all big little moments that we as parents all want to remember."
