The new seat of Wolverhampton West has been created following the boundary changes. Much of the new constituency previously came under Wolverhampton South West.

That was held by Conservative Stuart Anderson who was elected in 2019. But he announced he would not be standing again for re-election. The Wolverhampton South West seat was a classic swing seat, going back and forth between the Tories and Labour over recent years.

It was another tight race in 2019, with Mr Anderson winning with a slim majority of just 1,661. The incorporation of more traditionally working-class areas of the city may make this new seat more winnable for Labour.
