Woman’s 152 Facebook tattoos a hoax

A viral video of a woman getting a tattoo of 152 Facebook friends on her arm has turned out to be a fake.

Yahoo! News reported on Wednesday that YouTube user Susyj87 went through all the pain to have 152 photos of her most-treasured Facebook friends imprinted on her arm.

But according to Mashable, the video filmed in Rotterdam was part of both a publicity stunt and social experiment by online webshop Pretty Social.

Admittedly Yahoo! News wasn’t the only site to be fooled by the extraordinary ‘My Social Tattoo’ video. Media outlets CNN, msnbc and Metro also fell victim to the elaborate stunt.

During the 90 second footage, the woman appears to have her entire right arm covered with the faces of her friends. The video was apparently filmed over a fortnight while she went back and forth to the shop.

At the end of the painstaking footage, she reveals a tightly packed sleeve of 152 profile pictures which are all finished in technicolour.

Extreme tattoo lovers can now sigh in disappointment as the artist behind the hoax has said that it actually took 30 minutes to the film the video of a temporary tattoo sleeve that washes off easily.

Over 3,000 YouTube users have now disliked the phony video. What a shame!
