Woman, 31, killed in horror crash involving lorry on busy road

A driver has died following a horror crash with a lorry on a major Cheshire road. Officers were called out to the A49 Tarporley Road in Oakmere, near Northwich, at around 7.40am yesterday (May 22).

Cheshire Police says the collision involved a white Renault Clio and a HGV, near to the junction of Overdale Lane. The driver of the Clio, a 31-year-old woman from Crewe, sadly died at the scene as a result of the crash.

Her family is being supported by specialist officers, Cheshire Police says. The lorry driver was not injured in the crash. No arrests have been made so far.

Enquiries are at an early stage, and police are urging anyone with information or video footage from the scene to come forward. Sergeant Andy Dennison, of Cheshire Police's Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: "The A49 is a busy road and as part of our investigation, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch.

"The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage that may help us determine how this incident occurred. If you have any information, no matter how small, please call us on 101, or via the website, quoting IML 1829539.”
