A 54-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another woman was stabbed in the neck at a home in Hackney on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the residential property in Hackney’s Hertford Road shortly after 6am over concerns for the victim’s welfare.

Along with paramedics and the air ambulance, they found a woman in her 50s with a stab wound to her neck.

Her injuries have since been assessed as “not life-threatening or life-changing”.

A 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder elsewhere in the borough and taken into custody at an east London police station.

Hackney Police said there was thought to be “no wider risk to the community”.

A crime scene remains in place at the address which is part of the Lockner Estate, situated between De Beauvoir and Dalston, said police.

“You will see an increased police presence in the area where a crime scene remains,” officers said.

“Local neighbourhood officers are out patrolling and will be able to answer any questions or listen to concerns residents may have.”

Enquiries are ongoing.
