Woman, 74, who died in Exeter park knife attack, named as Lorna England

A 74-year-old woman who died after being attacked in an Exeter park has been named as Lorna England.

Meanwhile, Cameron Davis has been remanded in custody after he appeared at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The 30-year-old from Exmouth, Devon, has been charged with murder.

He spoke only to confirm his date of birth and address and has been remanded in custody until 21 February, when he will appear at Exeter Crown Court.

Police had been called on the afternoon of 18 February to reports of an assault in Ludwell Valley Park, which is in the Wonford area of the city.

The victim, from Southbrook Road, Exeter, died at the scene despite members of the public and the emergency services trying to help her.

Chief Superintendent Dan Evans said: "My thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim at this tragic time.

"We will be supporting them over the coming days and weeks with specially trained officers."
