Woman attacked by bully-type dog left with serious injuries as Scots cops lockdown area

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a large bully-type dog in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services raced to McConnel Street in Kelloholm after the alarm was raised at around 6.25pm Saturday, April 27.

Ambulance crews attended and a woman was taken to Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment. Her injuries have been described as serious.

Officers remain in attendance and the dog has been secured. Police have advised locals to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a large bulldog type dog having attacked a woman in the McConnel Street area of Kelloholm around 6.25pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

"Emergency services attended and a woman has been taken to Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment for serious injuries.

"Officers remain in attendance and the dog has been secured. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area."
