Woman charged after death of cyclist in horror Glasgow crash

A woman has been charged following the death of a cyclist in a crash in Glasgow almost one year ago.

John Morton, 64, died in hospital after a collision with a grey vehicle on Fielden Street, Glasgow, on Monday, May, 29, 2023.

Police Scotland confirmed a 52-year-old woman was arrested and charged on Tuesday, April, 23 in connection with the incident.

A report will now be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the early morning accident and Mr Morton was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital three days later on June 1.

Speaking at the time, Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts remain with John’s family and friends at this very difficult time for them.”

People paid tribute to the popular cyclist following his tragic death last year.

Lidia Arrighi said: "Thoughts and prayers are with johns family at this horrible time. He was an absolute gentleman of a man. RIP, John."

"Bru McNally commented: "John was one of life’s good guys. I knew him for 45 years through our jobs in Glasgow fish market. RIP John."

Stephanie Carroll said: "RIP John. So heartbreaking, but you are back in the arms of your sister, Christine."

Kimberley Halliday added: "RIP, Uncle John."
