Woman Claimed Boy Died After Fall. Then Police Allegedly Found Texts: 'Ready to Hurt These Motherf------ Kids'
Samantha Wishman, 32, is facing charges of first-degree reckless homicide and neglecting a child, after the boy died on June 15, 2023
A Wisconsin woman was arrested last week in connection with the death of her boyfriend’s 3-year-old son after she claimed he died from a fall down the stairs.
Samantha Wishman, 32, is facing charges of first-degree reckless homicide and neglecting a child, after the boy died on June 15, 2023.
The boy’s death was initially reported as an accidental fall down a flight of stairs. However, authorities later determined that the death was “non-accidental,” according to a Marinette Police Department press release.
Officers responded to the home in Marinette on June 15 after Wishman called 911 stating the boy was not breathing, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.
Wishman allegedly told police the boy had fallen down the stairs the night before.
According to the complaint, police said at the time the boy’s father “seemed frantic and wanted to go to the hospital” while Wishman “seemed more calm in the situation and was helping keep the other kids under control,” per the complaint.
The boy later died at the hospital.
An autopsy showed he suffered from broken ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion and had multiple bruising on his head and body.

The medical examiner determined his death was a result of blunt force injuries.
While investigating the boy’s death, investigators accessed Wishman’s phone records and found numerous text messages she allegedly sent to the boy’s father before his death.
“I'm ready to hurt these mother f------ kids nobody f------ understands I can't breathe so this is so much harder now I'm having more problems breathing," she allegedly wrote in one text.
“I been real dizzy I can’t breathe hardly it’s even harder with these f------ kids n [sic] nobody is goin' to take any of this serious until they walk into this house n [sic] find me passed tf [sic] out on the floor,” she wrote in another. “These mother f------ won’t f------ stop I’m ready to lose my shit [because] I can’t breathe I can’t yell so I’m just the joke around here.”
Per the complaint, Dr. Kristen Iniguez, Director of the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center, was asked to look over the police and medical records after the boy's death.
“In review of [the boy’s] records, several elements are noted which bring into question the pmechanism of a stairway fall as the cause for [the boy’s] spectrum of injuries and death," she said. "Many of these elements instead raise concern that [the boy’s] injuries were the result of non-accidental trauma.”
“…the finding of multiplanar patterned bruising; bruising in anatomically protected locations; and severe internal injuries would not be expected after a stairway fall. In my opinion, [the child] has likely been a victim of non-accidental trauma, which led to his death.”
An initial appearance hearing is scheduled for April 15. It is unclear if Wishman has retained an attorney to speak on her behalf.
