A woman who ‘came back from the dead’ after being found alive in a hospital morgue has died hours later.

Metro reports how the 62-year-old woman had been drinking with relatives at a party in Russia when she died – she was taken in a hearse before declared dead.

But a mortuary worker said the woman started moving after he tried to fit a tag to her foot, she was rushed to intensive care but died of hypothermia within hours.

A Russian health official said: “The police officer did not call for an ambulance, as required by instructions.

“He certified the death on his own, called the undertaker’s and sent the body to the morgue without accompanying documents.”

Medical officials believe had the officer followed protocol the woman might still be alive.

A police investigation into the woman’s death is now under way as the police officer failed to follow official directions.
