Woman found her husband on 'drunk taxi ride home' from Aintree

A Grand National racegoer found her husband on a 'drunk taxi ride home' from Aintree.

The woman, who spoke to the ECHO as part of a Facebook Live from Ladies Day, was enjoying the atmosphere at the famous racing event this afternoon. Cutting a classy figure in a royal blue dress with a matching fascinator, she laughed and joked with friends about her happy memories at the racecourse from over the years.

ECHO reporter Ryan Paton asked the racegoer about her beautiful blue ensemble, which was created by Liverpool-based designer Mark Melia Designs.

She said: "My outfit is made by someone from Liverpool, he's a Scouser called Mark Melia. We've come [to Aintree] every year - it's the banter, it's the atmosphere, it's the fashion, everything. "

Her outfit was a sophisticated figure-hugging off-the-shoulder dress, adorned with buttons down the back.

She paired the dress with a matching fascinator, pearl necklace and a big pair of glamorous sunglasses.

Asked about her favourite memory from attending the Grand National over the years, she joked: "I never remember getting back on the bus!"

But she is then prompted by a fellow racegoer, who says: "Do you remember when we were going home in the taxi and James told you about Edward and then you ended up marrying him?"

The woman then explains the quirky story behind her marriage, saying: "On a drunk ride home with my uncle James, he picked my husband and now I'm married to him! So I came out [of the races] with a husband three years ago."

The second day of the Grand National Festival is in full swing as racegoers make the most of the world famous festival - with many attendees dressed to the nines.

Thankfully the weather has stayed dry and many racegoers have been able to ditch the big coat and show off their outfits.

Today is known for being one of the more fashionable days thanks to the Style Award, which sees one racegoer bagging a lucrative prize.

Take a look through the stunning first arrivals at Aintree yesterday, on Thursday, April 11, on day one of the festival here.
